Student and DSO discuss tips for maintaining status

Students: Read these Tips to Maintain Your Student Status

You must fulfill the purpose of your F or M student status, which is to study. If you take any action that detracts from that purpose, you risk losing your status and being sent to your home country. For helpful tips and reminders on how to maintain status while studying in the United States, read this Study in the States blog.

DSOs: Complete Your Mandatory SEVIS Annual Verification

The Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) verification period ends March 2. During this 90-day period, all principal designated school officials (PDSOs) and responsible officers (ROs) must verify annually that every PDSO, DSO, RO, and alternate responsible officer (ARO) is still a PDSO, DSO, RO or ARO and continues to require access to SEVIS. All unverified users will lose SEVIS access on March 3. Find instructions on the Study in the States blog.
