This year’s International Education Week (IEW) runs from Nov. 12–16, 2018. This joint initiative between the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. Learn More About SEVIS Release 6.41

SEVP upgraded the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) to Release 6.41 on Oct. 26, 2018. The release changes how SEVIS calculates the days of unemployment that a student accrues while on post-completion and science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) optional practical training (OPT). For more information about Release 6.41, as well as unemployment reminders for your students, visit Study in the States.

Prepare for the Annual Verification Period

SEVP will conduct the next annual verification period from Dec. 2, 2018, to March 2, 2019. Each year, principal designated school officials (PDSO), designated school officials (DSO), responsible officers (RO) and alternate responsible officers (ARO) must verify they are still employed by the organization; continue to be the selected PDSO, DSO, RO or ARO; and require continued access to SEVIS. STAY CONNECTED

The Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) is the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) program that administers the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). It ensures that government agencies have essential data related to nonimmigrant students and exchange visitors to preserve national security. SEVP provides approval and oversight to schools authorized to enroll F and M nonimmigrant students and gives guidance to both schools and students about the requirements for maintaining their status.
