24 alleged MS-13 members facing federal indictment for violent racketeering, murder and money laundering conspiracies

A federal grand jury has returned a third superseding indictment charging twenty-four alleged members and associates of the gang MS-13. “We will not allow MS-13 and its members or their affiliates to bring their nefarious and deadly activities into our neighborhoods,” said Acting Special Agent in Charge Cardell T. Morant.  “I am proud of the dedicated agents who have duly executed their duties in our collective pursuit of law, order and justice.”

ICE seizes 181,000 counterfeit items worth nearly $43 million in Laredo, Texas

Special agents with ICE Homeland Security Investigation (HSI) on Tuesday completed counting the counterfeit items seized in Laredo in June which totaled more than 181,000 items. HSI estimates the street value of the seized items at more than $42.9 million, which is HSI’s largest counterfeit seizure in Laredo. Learn more

Liberian war criminal living in Delaware County convicted of immigration fraud and perjury

On July 3, 2018, a defendant in Collingdale, Pennsylvania was found guilty by a federal jury of immigration fraud and perjury charges, following an HSI-led investigation, with assistance from the FBI.  Woewiyu is a founder and the former Minister of Defense, chief spokesperson, and negotiator for the National Patriotic Front of Liberia (NPFL), which was an armed rebel group led by Charles Taylor and committed to removing the Samuel Doe government forcibly from power in Liberia in the late 1980s and 1990s. On numerous occasions over the years, Woewiyu publicly confirmed his prominent position in the NPFL and advocated the overthrow of the Doe government by force or violence. Learn more

Humacao man sentenced to more than 17 years in prison for production of child pornography

A Humacao-area man was sentenced Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico to more than 17 years in prison for production of child pornography. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) conducted the investigation that led to the arrest. Learn more

Federal jury in Lubbock, Texas, convicts El Paso man on drug trafficking charges

Following a one-day trial Monday before a federal jury has convicted for his role in smuggling heroin and cocaine into the United States. Enrique Rodriguez, 37, of El Paso, Texas, was convicted on one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances, one count of possession with intent to distribute one kilogram or more of heroin, and one count of possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine.  Learn more
