SEVP held an SEVP Special Report Webinar on March 20, 2018, to provide stakeholders with an overview of SEVP Portal operations and functionality. During the webinar, SEVP representatives discussed the following:

  • Steps to create an SEVP Portal account.
  • Tips to navigate the SEVP Portal.
  • Information for designated school officials (DSOs) about the SEVP Portal’s interface  with the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System.
  • Resources on Study in the States.
  • SEVP representatives also responded to both frequently asked questions about the SEVP Portal and live questions from the audience.

This webinar was designed for DSOs and international students, primarily F-1 international students engaged in post-completion optional practical training (OPT) or science, technology, engineering and mathematics OPT and M-1 students engaged in practical training.

Curious about the U.S. port of entry process?

Join SEVP and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. EDT for the Government Voices Webinar: What to Expect at a U.S. Port of Entry. During this webinar, CBP officers and SEVP subject matter experts will have an in-depth discussion about port of entry processes nonimmigrant students encounter throughout the student life cycle, including:

  • Primary vs. secondary inspection.
  • Documentation.
  • How entry processes may differ at land, air and sea ports of entry.
  • Other topics related to student entry to the United States.

SEVP is accepting pre-submitted questions until Friday, April 20, 2018, and will also take live questions during the webinar. Stakeholders are encouraged to send pre-submitted questions to SEVPOutreach@ice.dhs.gov.
