Statement from ICE Acting Director on Sonoma County's repeated releases of dangerous criminal alien

.Once again, a non-cooperative jurisdiction has left its community vulnerable to dangerous individuals and preventable crimes. ICE lodged a detainer against Jesus Gonzalez with Sonoma County jail officials on October 16, following his arrest on felony charges for maliciously setting fire to a property.

ICE arrests 5 aliens with pending charges in New York after detainers were ignored

An Indian national, who has pending charges for assault, forcible touching, sexual abuse and harassment is among five aliens from as many countries recently arrested in the New York-metropolitan area after detainers filed by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) were ignored. Full Story

Foreign national sentenced to 31 months in prison for leadership role in human smuggling conspiracy

A Pakistani citizen was sentenced to 31 months in prison for his role in a scheme to smuggle undocumented migrants from Pakistan into the United States. Special Agent in Charge, Angel M. Melendez of ICE HSI in New York, among others, made the announcement. Full Story

ICE joins rescue and response efforts for 3 major hurricanes

After Puerto Rico’s biggest hurricane ravaged the island, ICE HSI special agents and ERO deportation officers are more than a month into recovery efforts, which have included well-check visits, moving of debris, cutting trees, tarping roofs, work needed on homes, providing security for doctors and others who are part of the humanitarian efforts on the island, as well as bringing meals to communities and water and food to remote areas of the island.
