11 indicted for laundering $40 million in Atlanta-area drug proceeds

Eleven people were charged with laundering more than $40 million in drug proceeds back to Mexico through Atlanta-area money remitters following a three-year criminal investigation led by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the IRS.

2 West Texas men each receive 20 years in federal prison sentences for sexual exploiting a 12-year-old girl

Two West Texas men, who each pleaded guilty in February 2017 to one count of sexually exploiting a 12-year-old girl, were sentenced to hefty federal prison sentences. The case was investigated by ICE HSI, the Abilene Police Department and Traffick911. “What these men did to this 12-year old girl is shocking and despicable,” said U.S. Attorney Parker. “The total depravity displayed by these defendants justifies these sentences.” Full Story

7,000 rounds of ammunition seized, 1 arrested as federal agents thwart smuggling attempt

A Mexican national was arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle more than 7,000 rounds of ammunition into Mexico following a probe by ICE HSI with assistance provided by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Full Story
