Last month, FEMA shared the list of approved subrecipients for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 Nonprofit Security Grant Program with states and territories. Through this grant program, nearly 1,600 faith-based organizations and nonprofits across the United States will receive $266 million in security funding.
In the face of violent criminals and radical organizations intent on hurting American communities, the Trump-Vance Administration is helping houses of worship, schools and community centers to harden their defenses against attacks. FEMA’s Nonprofit Security Grant Program provides funding for security enhancements, like security cameras, additional warning and alert systems, gates and lighting, access control systems and training programs for staff. FY2025 Nonprofit Security Grant Program's funded subrecipients include nearly 1,600 nonprofit organizations from all 50 states, U.S. territories and the District of Columbia. These organizations include Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh and Jewish affiliated institutions. More than 60% of the available funding has been awarded to houses of worship.
For the FY2025 Nonprofit Security Grant Program, FEMA initially awarded the Nonprofit Security Grant Program funding directly to state administrative agencies in September 2025. Those state administrative agencies then managed their own competitive programs for nonprofit organizations to apply for funding and provided more than 6,000 subapplications to FEMA and the Department of Homeland Security for review. FEMA reviewed and vetted these submissions to confirm that applications were complete and organizations were eligible for funding. This process was delayed for more than 120 days because DHS experienced three separate shutdowns in FY2026 due to a lack of appropriated funding.

Apply for FEMA's Fiscal Year 2024 Flood Mitigation Assistance Grant Program by August 6
Through the Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 Flood Mitigation Assistance Program, FEMA is making $600 million available to state, local, tribal and territorial governments, empowering them to take decisive, proactive steps to protect their communities from flood disasters.
Applicants have until 3 p.m. ET, Thursday, August 6, to revise and re-submit their application to FEMA. States, territories and Tribal Nations may have an earlier deadline for subapplications. All applications must be submitted using FEMA Grants Outcomes (FEMA GO). Applications received after this deadline will not be considered.

FEMA Makes $56M Available to American Communities for Flood Risk Management
On June 30, FEMA made $56 million available to support state, local, tribal and territorial government agencies along with community organizations, in building and maintaining risk-informed approaches to flood risk management. FEMA is disbursing this funding through two separate grant programs that enhance the nation’s resilience to floods by supporting communities participating in the National Flood Insurance Program. These programs align with President Trump’s America First Resilience Strategy, which calls for a new risk-informed approach that treats resilience as an investment opportunity.
The funding opportunities span two separate grant programs:
- The FY 2026 Community Assistance Program – State Support Services Element funding opportunity makes $15 million available to states, U.S. territories and the District of Columbia. This year’s funding opportunity also requires recipients to use a new Compliance Audit Tool to verify community compliance to strengthen program accountability and consistency. The application period closes on August 11.
- The Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 Cooperating Technical Partners grant program funding opportunity makes $41 million available to communities that participate in the National Flood Insurance Program. This year’s funding opportunity prioritizes completing the more than 1,000 flood mapping projects currently in progress across the country. The application period closes on August 17.

FEMA Corps Resumes, Application Period Open for 2027 Class
The FEMA Corps program has resumed and is now accepting applications for its next class of future emergency managers. The FEMA Corps program is restarting after being carefully reviewed and refocused to align with FEMA’s core mission and the Trump Administration's priorities. About 80 members and 10 team leaders will be selected to serve from February 2027 to November 2027.

FEMA Corps graduates may receive an education award upon completion, which can be used for tuition or student loans, and relocation expenses.
