Join to hear a briefing on NFIP flood insurance rating changes--called Risk Rating 2.0. Then, stay on to ask your Risk Rating 2.0 questions. Feel free to drop after your question is addressed, or stay on to listen to the questions others have. All are welcome, including: state, local, and tribal officials; local floodplain administrators and emergency managers; insurance agents; real estate professionals; and the public. This two-hour training provided by FEMA Region 6's Regional Flood Insurance Liaison, Gilbert Giron will introduce participants to Risk Rating 2.0 Equity in Action. Learn about why the flood insurance rating change is happening, and what is changing and not changing under the new rating methodology. Two hours of continuing education credit is being pursued for this training through ASFPM for Certified Floodplain Managers.

Back2Basics With Mike Segner: Permits--Tools to Permit Proper Development

This is the first topic in the 2022 Back2Basics Series with FEMA's Mike Segner. Each topic is offered twice, choose from either offering. This is the first offering. NFIP participating communities must issue permits for all development in the high risk flood areas. As part of the permit process, local floodplain administrators need to check that all other applicable permits were issued. This class will cover a majority of the common (and uncommon) permits needed for development, including local, state and federal permits, like those needed for endangered species, wetlands, and others. One hour of Continuing education credit is being pursued for this training through ASFPM for Certified Floodplain Managers.

This presentation will help attendees navigate FEMA’s MT-1 application process, including tips for successful submittals. After a quick summary of LOMC types, this presentation will cover how to meet FEMA’s requirements and apply for various types of LOMCs including out as shown (OAS) LOMA requests, requests in Zone A areas using Base Level Engineering (BLE) data, and requests using LiDAR data. View the latest BLE data added to our Estimated BFE Viewer (performs best on Firefox or Chrome). One hour of continuing education credit is approved for this training through ASFPM for Certified Floodplain Managers.
