FEMA App Unveils New Features

FEMA App

FEMA has been making improvements to the FEMA mobile app. These improvements aim to make the app more user friendly. The most recent update included changes to the alerts section, where app users can now easily customize the types of alerts they wish to receive.

The process of setting alerts for each location by choosing from dozens of individual disaster types was time-consuming and has been replaced. Alert categories have now been refined and recategorized, with simple on/off toggles to select the categories you want.

FEMA is also reinventing the FEMA App with a new look and feel, brand new features and a better user experience. Stayed tuned in with our communication channels for announcements in the coming months!

Download the latest version 2.12 from the App Store or Google Play store. If you have any questions, comments or mobile app ideas, reach out to FEMA-New-Media@fema.dhs.gov.

FEMA Announces Fiscal Year 2020 Funding Selections

FEMA has selected the subapplications for the $700 million being made available in fiscal year 2020 for Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities and Flood Mitigation Assistance grant programs.

These competitive programs provide funding to state, local, tribal and territorial governments for eligible mitigation activities to strengthen our nation’s ability to reduce disaster losses and protect life and property from disaster damage.

Over the last several months, FEMA reviewed subapplications to ensure that they are eligible, long-term, cost-effective and technically feasible in reducing the impacts of hazards. A subapplication can be determined as one of three categories:

  • Identified for Further Review.
  • Not Selected.
  • Does not Meet HMA Requirements.

FEMA regions will work with applicants to conduct programmatic reviews of subapplications selected as identified for further review before making a final decision for funding.

Through the FEMA Grants Outcomes system, FEMA will notify applicants and subapplicants that a determination has been made regarding the status of their fiscal year 2020 grant application. The determinations can be online on the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities and Flood Mitigation Assistance FEMA webpages.

FEMA will work with applicants to conduct programmatic reviews of the selected subapplications identified for further review before making a final decision. For additional information or any questions, grant applicants can contact their FEMA Regional Office. More information is available at the FEMA.gov.
