Floodplain Monthly Training: Substantial Damage Documentation

Hear from FEMA's Brian Bartley about the Substantial Damage (SD) documentation you will need on each structure following a damaging event. Then hear from the local perspective with Cameron Parish in Louisiana. Knowing now what your files should look like and what documentation is needed after a disaster will make it easier when the time comes to implement the SD provision in your ordinance or order.
One hour of continuing education credit (CEC) is approved for this course through the Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM) for Certified Floodplain Managers.

This training will be offered twice. Choose from either offering. Hear from FEMA Region 6 Public Assistance and Floodplain Management staff about the new FEMA Public Assistance policy based on the Disaster Recovery Reform Act (DRRA) Section 1206, which allows for reimbursement of eligible building code and floodplain management activities and costs for 180 days after major disaster declarations with categories C-G. Learn what is eligible, when you would be able to apply, and how to apply. You will also learn about the floodplain requirement to assess and inspect for substantial damage.
Intended audience: Local floodplain and building code staff, community executives, local emergency managers, and community budget/finance staff. It is recommended that your community's Public Assistance point of contact attend this training. They may be housed in your budget or finance office or your emergency management side. Two hours of continuing education credit are approved for this training through ASFPM for Certified Floodplain Managers.
