FEMA Holds National Public Assistance Readiness Stand-Down

FEMA will hold a National Public Assistance Readiness Stand-Down on March 17-18.  This is a nationwide, all-hands event for Public Assistance personnel within FEMA operations. The stand-down will allow employees to focus on consistent guidance and processes impacting disaster operations. It is also a time for employees to set a few hours of their day aside to share their work experiences and lessons learned from one another.

Equipping Public Assistance personnel with the latest policy information and lessons learned will increase efficiency in customer service, project worksheet development, documentation collection, and ultimately, improve the delivery of funds to communities in need.

The stand-down will be broadcast live from FEMA HQ from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. ET.  State and tribal partners are welcome to participate, especially if they are operating State-Led PA or have PA staff working directly from their offices.

FEMA Accepts Applications for FEMA Corps

Do you know someone between the age of 18-24 who is interested in a career in emergency management? FEMA Corps could be the first step to a meaningful career.

FEMA partners with the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) in this team-based service program that gives young adults the opportunity to serve communities impacted by disaster while gaining professional development experience.

Over the course of 12 months, FEMA Corps teams will travel the country, working side-by-side with FEMA staff at joint field offices, regional offices and headquarters.  The teams will learn about FEMA and gain experience in emergency management.  Some FEMA Corps alumni go on to become emergency management professionals at FEMA and elsewhere. FEMA Corps members also receive an education award at the end of their service that helps pay for college.

Applications for the summer 2020 FEMA Corps class are due March 31.  For more information, contact the FEMA Corps Program.
