The External Stakeholders Working Group,
part of FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) Grants program, announces
that the HMA
Grants Forum is available online and seeking input. This
forum encourages individual thoughts or communities of practice to share,
promote and engage in topics such as hazard mitigation, project success
stories, and lessons learned from the grants process of completing an
application, implementation and grant closeout.
Several ideas about safe rooms, drainage
grants, and mapping finalization processes have been submitted seeking
peer-to-peer input and comments. A wide-range of representatives from
federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, non-governmental organizations, and the
private sector are encouraged to contribute thoughts and opinions which will
help other hazard mitigation counterparts across the country as they plan

When it comes to disasters
there is no way to predict when the next one will occur -- but we can do things
to prepare. FEMA’s Community Emergency Response Team training, or CERT, is one
way to help communities to prepare for a disaster or large event. On this
week's episode of the FEMA Podcast, we’ll be learning more about these teams
from two guests: Phil Amtower, the coordinator for Christian County CERT
and Task Force Leader for MO CERT 1, a Regional CERT Team in southwest
Missouri, and Christopher Carroll, the KCMO CERT coordinator in Kansas City, Missouri.
The FEMA Podcast is a new
audio program series available to anyone interested in learning more about the
Agency, hearing about innovation in the field of emergency management, and
listening to stories about communities and individuals recovering after disasters.

Apply to the Master Public Information Officer Program at FEMA's Emergency Management Institute
FEMA Emergency Management Institute's (EMI) Master Public Information Officer Program is a
three-course series designed to prepare public information officers for an
expanded role in delivering public information and warning using a strategic
whole community approach.
The course is open to full time public information officers
with a minimum of five years of experience
and who have a demonstrated sphere of influence capable of advancing the

Register for the Emergency Management Institute's Cyber Virtual Tabletop Exercise
FEMA’s Emergency
Management Institute (EMI) Virtual Tabletop Exercise (VTTX) Program will offer
three cyber security breach scenarios August 7, 8, and 9, 2018. The VTTX
occurs 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. ET. To participate, send an email to Doug
