CISA to Hold Election Day Briefings for Members of the Media
The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) will host a pair of telephonic background briefings for members of the media on Tuesday, November 7 to provide updates from the field on the security and resilience of the 2023 elections. These calls are part of the agency’s commitment to transparency and providing information, and are not due to any specific or credible threat to Tuesday’s elections. The calls will be conducted on background, and information may be attributed to a senior CISA official. By participating in the call, members of the media are agreeing to these ground rules.
Elections are taking place around the country at the state, local, and municipal level on Tuesday, with at least 10 states administering statewide races or initiatives. In support of election officials across the country, CISA will host an Election Day Operations Center, which will include election security partners from across government and the private sector. The agency will also be linked virtually with state and local election officials to facilitate robust information sharing and response should issues emerge.
