FOR COORDINATORS
A. COMDT COGARD WASHINGTON DC 181335Z JUN 26/ALCOAST 179/26
1. Coast Guard Unit Commands are encouraged to designate Partnership
in Education (PIE) Coordinators for the upcoming program cycle. See
REF (A) for Command briefing registration.
    a. All designated PIE Coordinators are hereby invited to attend
their orientation (75-minutes). This also ensures the roles and
responsibilities are understood so that the unit and partners
activities are correctly registered on the PIE Program SharePoint.
    b. A primary role of PIE Coordinators of supporting
units is to gain volunteers from their units to support the
activities coordinated.
    c. Coast Guard units can choose to participate in the PIE Program
as a lead, supporting, or stand-alone unit.
2. The PIE Coordinator orientation will be held on August 4, 2026,
from 1400 to 1515, Eastern. To register, click on the link below

3. Command-sponsored, partnership-based, and volunteer-driven, the
Coast Guard PIE Program enhances student wellbeing, academic
achievements, and career opportunities through partnerships across
the country between Coast Guard units and schools from elementary
through college, and other community-based youth serving
organizations.
    a. PIE Program partnerships provide opportunities for
active-duty, reserve, auxiliary, civilian, and retired Coast Guard
personnel to serve as volunteers engaging students in a range of
educational activities, such as providing class instruction,
participating in career days, hosting field trips to Coast Guard
units, and more.
    b. A stand-alone program requires the registration of the unit,
at least one school partner, and at least one partnership activity
engaging at least one Coast Guard member as a volunteer. Smaller
Coast Guard units may choose to support another unit, small or
large, with the other unit serving as the Lead unit for the Coast
Guard PIE Program in their community.
    c. Units with Lead PIE Programs require registration of the unit
and other supporting units, one or more school partners, and one or
more partnership activities engaging Coast Guard members as
volunteers. Registration of units, partners, and activities are
required during each 12-month cycle.
4. Following the initial PIE Coordinator orientation, a series of
short webinars are available on specific PIE Program activities.
These are listed on the calendar found on the PIE Program
SharePoint. Access to the PIE Program SharePoint will be granted to
everyone who registers to participate in the PIE Coordinator
Orientation. Anyone who can't participate in the orientation or any
of the webinars will be able to view recordings afterwards via links
that will be added to the calendar.
