SUBJ: 2025 GOLD ANCIENT TRIDENT SELECTION ANNOUNCEMENT
A. Ancient Trident Award, COMDTINST 1650.17
1. The Ancient Trident Designation was established in 2016 to
honor those with the longest time serving in the Marine Safety
Program. This designation not only recognizes Marine Safety
longevity but also extols the officer and enlisted Marine Safety
Professional whose personal character and performance standards
honor the most venerable practitioners of marine safety and
reflect the service's Core Values.
2. Per REF (A), a selection panel was convened on 04 August 2025.
I am pleased to announce the selection of RADM Wayne Arguin as
the second Gold Ancient Trident, who will assume the watch
effective immediately.
3. An official resumption of watch ceremony will be scheduled.
4. I wish the Inaugural Gold Ancient Trident, ADM Linda Fagan,
USCG (retired), fair winds and following seas on her retirement
and future endeavors.
5. I congratulate RADM Arguin on his designation. With over
30 years of service in the Marine Safety specialty, he embodies
the rich traditions of the community and the thousands of
Coast Guard men and women who safeguard our marine transportation
system on a daily basis to ensure the economic prosperity of these
United States.
