SUBJ: COMMAND BRIEFING ON COAST GUARD PARTNERSHIP IN EDUCATION
PROGRAM
1. Commanding Officers (COs), Officers in Charge (OICs), and
Executive Officers of CG units are invited to a 30-minute briefing
and question and answer session on the Partnership in Education
(PIE) Program.
2. The mission of the CG PIE Program is to enhance the well-being,
academic achievements, and career opportunities of students through
partnerships across the country between Coast Guard units,
schools, and other community-based, youth focused organizations.
3. Through PIE Program partnerships, active-duty CG members, as well
as CG reservists, auxiliarists, civilians, and retired employees
can engage students in a range of educational activities, including
mentoring and tutoring; supporting instruction in science,
technology, engineering, arts, and math; hosting field trips to CG
units; and more. In addition to supporting students, the PIE Program
gives members of the CG family the ability to further serve as
positive role models and mentors in their communities.
