SUBJ: SAROPS 3.0 FAMILIARIZATION AND ROLLOUT PLAN - INITIAL
1. The current version of the Search and Rescue Optimization
Planning System (SAROPS 2.5) will become unusable due to the
obsolescence of the ArcGIS Desktop application. Additionally,
the Defense Intelligence Information Exchange that SAROPS 2.5
uses to enable and support its features and options will be
discontinued.
2. A team of programmers and developers led by COMDT (CG-SAR)
have been developing a web-based user interface named SAROPS 3.0
(aka SAROPS Web). Developers have received field input to
improve SAROPS functions to include a cleaner and easier user
interface, a simplified workflow, and faster performance.
3. Effective 01 October 2024, the web version of SAROPS 3.0 is
available for field familiarization and training purpose only.

4. Access to SAROPS 3.0 is currently controlled. Command Centers
are requested to draft an email with a list of all SAR
Watchstanders, to include names and email addresses. This email
must be sent to John Squires (John.P.Squires@USCG.MIL) to gain
access to SAROPS 3.0.
5. SAROPS 2.5 remains the only authorized computerized Search and
Rescue planning software for real-world operational use.
6. National Search and Rescue School (NSARS) developed training
videos covering the basics of SAROPS 3.0 for field use. The SAROPS
3.0 training videos are located at the following link:

7. NSARS Module 4: Planning will utilize SAROPS 3.0 for training in
the pilot rollout beginning in FY2025.
