SUBJ: SELECTIONS FOR THE BOAT FORCES ADVISORY COUNCIL (BFAC)
A. COMDT COGARD WASHINGTON DC 151525Z AUG 24/ALCOAST 312/24
1. Purpose: This message announces seven members to the Boat Forces
Advisory Council (BFAC) per REF (A). The BFAC members serve as a
communications conduit between the field and the program to
ensure Boat Forces leadership is continually linked to the
capability needs of the Boat Forces community.
2. Discussion: REF (A) solicited applications for seven open
positions on the BFAC. COMDT (CG-731) received 21 field nominations
for the seven positions. Every member nominated was a distinguished
individual with a high level of leadership, competencies, and
experience making the selection especially difficult.
a. I am pleased to announce the following nominated
individuals have been selected:
(1) CWO Karl Niedermeyer, CGC WILLOW (Cutter ATON)
(2) BMCS Robert Quinn, ANT New York (ANT)
(3) BMC Bradford Kline, CGC MELVIN BELL Cutter Boat
(non-major/ATON)
(4) BMC John Sager, CGC CHARLES DAVID JR. (Cutter Pursuit)
(5) BMC Miguel Torres, STA Miami Beach (Station Pursuit)
(6) BM1 Cody Laeger, MSST Kings Bay (DSF)
(7) BM1 Trenton Campbell, STA Quillayute River (Surf)
3. Action: Effective the date of this message, the above members
are appointed membership through CY25 and will remain as members
until replaced or at the discretion of the Chair. We encourage the
field to utilize these members to discuss areas of concern and to
facilitate communication with COMDT (CG-731). These efforts will
ensure that we continue to set the world standard for professional
boat operations and ensure safe and effective boat operations
throughout the fleet.
4. We appreciate the contributions made by former BFAC members
and thank you and your commands for your time and efforts in
support of Boat Forces initiatives.
