Subj:  85TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE U.S. COAST GUARD AUXILIARY


 

1.  On June 20, 2024, at a ceremony held in U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters, Rear Admiral Wayne Arguin (Assistant Commandant for Prevention Policy, CG-5P) presented National Commodore Gus Formato with four items in recognition of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary’s 85th anniversary that will formally occur on June 23, 2024:

 

a. The Letter of Appreciation signed by President Joseph Biden (attached).

 

b. The Congressional Proclamation read by Congressman Nick LaLota of New York’s 1st District on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 (attached).

 

c. The Coast Guard Unit Commendation signed by the Commandant of the Coast Guard, Admiral Linda Fagan (attached: Auxiliarists who served in an enrolled status at least one day during the award period of 24 June 2019 to 23 June 2024 are eligible for this award. Award hardware will be ordered by this office and distributed through District Director of Auxiliary offices)..

 

d. The American Campaign Streamer that recognizes the Auxiliary’s service during World War II (attached: This streamer may be displayed on the Auxiliary flag along with other streamers that have been previously authorized).

 

2.  An article about the ceremony is posted at MyCG: Coast Guard Auxiliary Celebrates 85th Anniversary > United States Coast Guard > My Coast Guard News (uscg.mil).

 

3.  The Auxiliary’s perennially vigorous support of Coast Guard operations and ardent promotion of recreational boating safety for 85 years stand as hallmarks of the honor, respect, and devotion to duty of its uniformed volunteers. Happy 85th anniversary to the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary!
