SUBJ: 2024 STUDENT ART CONTEST NOW OPEN FOR SUBMISSIONS
1. The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) encourages students to set sail on a
creative voyage with the annual art contest, sponsored by the North
American Marine Environment Protection Association (NAMEPA),
USCG, and the Inter-American Committee on Ports of the Organization
of American States (CIP-OAS). The contest is now open for
submissions.
2. All students in grades K-12 across the Americas (North, Central,
and South America and the Caribbean) are invited to dive into the
theme of "Navigating the Future of Safety and Sustainability."
Students living in other parts of the world who have a parent on
active duty in the USCG may also participate in the art contest. The
student's mission is to create an original poster that depicts the
relationship between maritime safety, technology, innovation, and
environmental sustainability.
3. Entries must be submitted to NAMEPA by May 3, 2024, at 2359 EDT.

4. Twelve finalists, six from grades K-5 and six from grades 6-12,
will be selected and notified by July 1, 2024. The winning artwork
will be retained and featured on the USCG, NAMEPA and CIP-OAS
websites as well as published in a twelve-month calendar that will
be printed in English and Spanish. You can view past winners on the

5. All finalists will receive a certificate and a calendar. Two
grand prize-winning artists (one from each grade category) will
receive a cash prize from NAMEPA and a USCG-themed package.
6. The USCG workforce is encouraged to share this announcement with
families, friends, and others who may have eligible children. Coast
Guard Partnership in Education coordinators and volunteers are asked
to share this announcement with schools and teachers and to
encourage student participation.
