1. This message solicits candidates and outlines the application
process for members interested in a special duty assignment as a
Coast Guard Instructor for a Pre-Basic Training English Language
Training Program (ELTP) at the Defense Language Institute English
Language Center (DLIELC) at Joint Base San Antonio, Texas. There
are two positions available, one for a Lead Company Commander and
one for an Assistant Instructor.
2. This is a two-year assignment opportunity.
3. The following positions are available:

E6/E5 19382200 TCCM-DLIELC-LACKLAND SAN ANTONIO, TX
4. Instructors will be integrated with Drill Sergeants from the
Army's Echo Company and must be comfortable working in a joint
environment. They are responsible for the health and well-being of
the recruits in the ELTP, and support the mission of DLIELC and
TRACEN Cape May. They serve as direct trainers and instruct classes
on Coast Guard missions, history, seamanship, military customs,
physical fitness, and drill and ceremonies. They are also responsible
for the development of the recruits to prepare them for service in
the Coast Guard.
5. Eligibility:
a. Tour complete in AY24 or AY25.
b. Must be an Active Duty E8 or E7 for the Lead Company Commander position.
c. Must be an Active Duty E5 or E6 for the Assistant Company Commander
position.
d. Must be a current or prior Company Commander.
e. Meet the requirements listed in reference (A), CH 1.E.2.
6. Process/timeline:
a. NLT 01 DEC 2023: Standard applications are emailed to EPM-2 at
HQS-SMB-PSC-EPM-2-SpecialAssignments@uscg.mil.
b. OOA 11 DEC 2023: Selectee notified via email.
c. OOA MAR - MAY 2024: Window to attend pre-arrival training (as
applicable
d. The expected report date is 01 JUL 2024.
7. Standard Applications: Members and Commands should pay close
attention to the requirements listed in the standard application
found at reference B. Incomplete or improperly formatted applications will
be returned. Deadline extensions will not be granted to correct errors.
8. The Special Assignments Officer will coordinate the release from
rating process. Applicants should not contact their detailer asking
if they can be released from rate.
