SUBJ: AY24 FEMALE AFLOAT ERESUME GUIDANCE
A. Military Assignments and Authorized Absences Manual, COMDTINST M1000.8A
B. Women Afloat (sharepoint-mil.us)
C. Assignments Branch (EPM-2) (sharepoint-mil.us)
1. The purpose of this message is to increase awareness on new underway
opportunities for women to serve at sea and to provide guidance to all members desiring to compete for an afloat assignment in Assignment Year 2024. Due to the necessary changes brought about by Phase 1 of the Force Alignment Initiative, several mixed gender cutters were placed into a "Commission Special" status, whereby EPM will no longer staff each identified cutter. Recognizing a loss in underway opportunities, EPM highly encourages female members who desire to serve afloat to follow the guidance below:
a. Female members interested in competing for afloat assignments should list
all desired cutters on their eResume, regardless of the ship's gender make up,
cutter platform or current female berthing availability. If a cutter is
presently gender neutral, EPM will work with each individual command and
program stakeholders to convert to mixed gender if there is a candidate pool
to support the conversion. EPM tracks this data set and will continue to
promote and expand underway opportunities for women to serve at sea.
b. Recognizing the shift in asset laydown of the Force Alignment Initiative,
EPM will now shop the CGC CONFIDENCE (soon to be CGC ALERT - homeported in Cape Canaveral, FL in Q3 of FY24) and the CGC RELIANCE (Pensacola, Fl) as
mixed gender platforms in Assignment Year 2024.
2. All women interested in afloat positions are highly encouraged to contact
the Women Afloat Coordinator for guidance on any questions they may have.
