1. Purpose. This ALCOAST encourages prior Coast Guard officers who
resigned their commissions between 26 August 2021 and 11 January
2023 to apply to Coast Guard Recruiting Command's Prior Trained
Military Officer (PTMO) May 2024 selection panel.
2. Background. The Coast Guard Recruiting Command
holds two PTMO panels each promotion year. While these panels
normally consider officers from other services, prior Coast Guard
officers are eligible to be considered.
3. Eligibility. Prior Coast Guard officers who resigned their
commissions between 26 August 2021 and 11 January 2023 and who meet
the requirements of REF (A).
4. Process. CG Recruiting Command manages the Direct Commission
Officer process in accordance with REFs (A) and (B). Applicants
should contact their local recruiters to begin the process and apply
for any needed waivers. Applications for the May PTMO board are due
NLT 12 February 2024.
5. Inquiries. Applicants should work directly with their recruiter
to address any program and pre‐panel questions. Recruiters shall
contact Regional Leadership or Officer Programs at
CGR‐DG‐CGRC‐OfficerPrograms@uscg.mil for any program or
pre‐application submission guidance.
6. CG RC POCs. All panel and accessions questions should be directed
to the Officer Accessions and Analysis Branch Chief,
