TECHNOLOGY ENGINEERING AND MATHEMATICS (GMIS) AWARDS
A. Recognitions Programs Manual, COMDTINST M1650.26
1. The 35th Annual Great Minds in Science (GMiS) Hispanic Engineer
National Achievement Awards Corporation (HENAAC) Conference and
Award Show. The awards honor the nations most distinguished
Hispanic engineers, scientists, mathematicians, and technology
experts as well as those that support and enhance the Hispanic
community. These awards allow the USCG to highlight role models in
an effort to inspire and encourage young people to pursue USCG
Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) focused
careers. Coast Guard (active duty and reserve) and civilian employee
nominations will be accepted.
2. GMiS will recognize the below award categories during the
35th Annual GMiS HENAAC Conference and Award Show in Pasadena,
CA, 11-14 October 2023.
   a. Executive Excellence
   b. Outstanding Technical Achievement
   c. Professional Achievement I & II
   d. Lifetime Achievement
   e. Professional Achievement - Level I and Level II
   f. Entrepreneur
   g. Most Promising Engineer or Scientist: Undergraduate Degree
   h. Most Promising Engineer or Scientist: Advanced Degree
   i. Community Service
   j. Education
   k. Special Award (Individuals are not nominated directly.
Award recipients will be selected from the top 5 nominee packages.)

All members submitting nomination packages shall include the
following:
   a. Online nomination form
   b. Nominator statement
   c. Resume
   d. Full job description
   e. Organization Chart
   f. Biography
   g. Recommendation Letters
   h. Color Photograph that is at least 300 dpi or higher
   i. Synopsis of key research (for technical award categories only)
   j. Articles about the Nominee (if applicable)
4. All Nomination packages must be submitted online using the GMiS
Nominations portal:

All nomination packages must be submitted no later than 26
May 2023. The nomination portal opens 15 April 2023.
5. Commanding Officers/OICs are strongly encouraged to support the
recognition of all civilian and military personnel
(active and reserve).

COMDT (CG-1D1), Carrie.Davis@uscg,mil, of your nomination packages.
7. Dr. D. M. Navarro, Senior Advisor for Diversity and Inclusion
