1. This message solicits candidates and outlines the application
process to those enlisted members interested in Special Agent duty
during AY24.
2. Special Agent duty is extremely challenging and rewarding.
The missions of the Coast Guard Investigative Service (CGIS) include
criminal investigation, both internal (e.g. theft of GOVT property,
fraud, and violations of UCMJ) and external (e.g. alien/drug smuggling,
and crimes against CG members), as well as intelligence gathering,
protective service operations, and liaison with other federal law
enforcement agencies.
3. Eligibility and Prerequisite requirements at time of application:
Refer to Program Information Sheet located at reference (B).
4. Process/timeline:
a. 05 MAY 2023: Standard applications are emailed to EPM-2 at
HQS-SMB-PSC-EPM-2-SpecialAssignments@uscg.mil and 'My Panel Submissions'
for CGIS are submitted in Direct Access.
b. 27 JUN 2023: Special Agent Screening Panel convenes.
c. OOA 17 JUL 2023: ALCGENL released announcing panel results.
d. OOA 29 SEP 2023: Email from Special Assignments AO to final
selectees.
5. Standard Applications: Members and Commands should pay close
attention to the requirements listed in the Standard Application and
Program Information Sheet found at reference (B). Incomplete or
improperly formatted applications will be returned. Deadline
extensions will not be granted to correct errors.
