1. This ALCOAST provides changes to the award criteria for the
Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal (IRCM) and the authorization to
award the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal (GWOT-EM)
for Operation INHERENT RESOLVE in accordance with REFs (A) and (B).
2. Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal: In accordance with REFs (A)
and (B), effective 1 Jul 2022 through 31 Dec 2022, the area of
eligibility for the Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal is limited to
the countries of Syria and Iraq, their associated airspace and
contiguous waters out to 12 nautical miles.
3. Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal: Effective 1 Jan 2023, the area
of eligibility for the Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal is limited
to the country of Syria, and its associated airspace and contiguous
waters out to 12 nautical miles in accordance with REFs (A) and (B).
4. Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal: On or after
1 January 2023, Service members deployed to Iraq for Operation
INHERENT RESOLVE who meet established eligibility criteria will be
awarded the (GWOT-EM) in accordance with REF (B).
5. This change will be included in the next revision of REF (C),
which will be released within the next year.
