1. This ALCOAST provides new criteria for award of the Global War on
Terrorism Service Medal (GWOTSM) in accordance with REF (A).
2. Global War on Terrorism Service Medal: Effective 11 September
2022, eligibility for the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal is
limited to Service members who directly serve in a designated
military counter-terrorism (CT) operation (e.g., deployed on orders
for a designated CT operation; directly supported a designated
operation) for a minimum of 30 days (consecutive or non-consecutive)
in accordance with REF (A).
3. This change will be included in the next revision of REF (B).
4. Questions regarding the GWOTSM should be directed to
