1. Happy 247th Birthday to the United States Marine Corps from
the United States Coast Guard.
2. Since 1775, the Marines have consistently demonstrated their
commitment to the Nation through valorous deeds on land, at sea,
and in the air. From the fighting tops of the first six frigates of
the U.S. Navy, to the battlefields of Belleau Wood, Guadalcanal, and
Fallujah, Marines have continuously lived up to their motto of
"Semper Fidelis".
3. Today, our Nation faces unprecedented threats to the global
commons and to the rules-based international order. The Coast Guard
is inspired by the Marine Corps' tradition of adaptability to
ensure a superior force.
4. As the Marines advance an integrated approach to maritime
operations, the Coast Guard stands alongside the sea services to
maintain advantage at sea and protect our national interests.
5. To all those who don the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor from all of
us in the Coast Guard: Semper Fidelis, Semper Paratus, and Happy
Birthday!
