1. I am pleased to announce MK2 Mara Devros from USCG Station
Bellingham as the winner of the 2021 Fireman First Class
Paul Clark Boat Forces Engineer Award. This prestigious annual
award recognizes an exemplary Coast Guard boat engineer who
demonstrated sustained superior performance, proficiency of
craft, and leadership. Her technical acumen, expertise, and
commitment distinguish MK2 Devros as an expert technician,
humanitarian, and innovative leader. Her example is a standard
to emulate for boat forces professionals throughout the Service.
MK2 Devro's qualifications include 45-foot Response Boat-Medium
(RB-M) Engineer, 29-foot Response Boat-Small II (RB-S II) and
RB-M Pursuit Crewmember, Boarding Officer (BO), Officer of the
Day, and Integrated Cross-Border Maritime Law Enforcement
Operations (ICMLEO) Peace Officer. In these roles she logged
over 200 underway hours and conducted or directed more than
100 search and rescue cases. These efforts resulted in 65
lives saved or assisted and more than $300,000 in property
safeguarded. MK2 Devros is a leader in the engineering
department. MK2 Devros was instrumental in the transit,
logisitics, and replacement of four main diesel engine and
reduction gears and the upgrade to the Scalable Integrated
