SUBJ: PY22 RESERVE CWO APPOINTMENT BOARD SPECIALTY ANNOUNCEMENT

B. Appointing Warrant Officers, COMDTINST M1420.1 (series)
1. Per REF A, the following CWO specialties will be considered for
Reserve CWO Appointments on the PY22 Reserve CWO Appointment Board
convening 11 April 2022:
   Boatswain (BOSN)
   Criminal Investigator (INV)
   Electronics (ELC)
   Finance and Supply (F&S)
   Information Systems Management (ISM)
   Marine Safety Specialist Response (MSSR)
   Maritime Law Enforcement Specialist (MLES)
   Medical Administration (MED)
   Naval Engineering (ENG)
   Personnel Administration (PERS)
2. Unlike the Active Component, the Reserve Component does not advertise all CWO
specialties for consideration each PY. Reserve Component CWO specialties are announced
based upon projected vacancies between 01 June of the current PY and 31 May of the
ensuing PY. Vacancies are projected based on current CWOs reaching age 60 or 30 years of
total service and those with an approved voluntary retirement on file with RPM within that
window. Unanticipated vacancies will be advertised in the ensuing PY. RPM requests
notification if a current CWO meets any of the above-mentioned separation criteria so that
the specialty may be added to the current PY specialty announcement.
3. Applications shall be submitted via "My Panel Applications" in
Direct Access. Applicants shall follow the Reserve Component CWO
Appointment Guide when submitting their application. The guide can be located
on the CG PSC-RPM webpage at: https://www.dcms.uscg.mil/RPM-1/Boards_and_Panels/.
Do not submit E-Resumes requesting SELRES assignment to individual positions.
4. Any member wishing to apply to a CWO specialty that is outside of their normal
path to appointment must meet the requirements listed in REF B, Article 3.K.1.
5. CWO applications for specialties not listed above will not be considered by the
PY22 CWO Appointment Board. Appointments are based upon projected vacancies.
