SUBJ: ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE 2021 COAST GUARD LEADERSHIP
DEVELOPMENT LIST
1. The 2021 Coast Guard Leadership Development List is now
available on the Office of Leadership website. This list
is the annual collection of recommendations from your shipmates
and includes resources for you to read, listen to, and watch.
This year the list has been expanded from the traditional Coast
Guard Reading List and now includes a variety of media for your
continuous leadership development.
2. The focus of this year's list is Professional Development.
Submissions were solicited from across our Coast Guard personnel
engaged in learning, this included course instructors and learning
cohorts, including:
a. Chief Petty Officer Academy;
b. Senior Enlisted Leadership Course;
c. Midgrade Officer and Civilian Transition Course;
d. Senior Leader Transition Course;
e. Senior Leadership Principles and Skills; and,
f. Diversity and Inclusion Education Awareness Program.
3. Over 40 submissions were received from the current and emerging
generation of Coast Guard leaders for a final selection of 12 books,
podcasts, and videos.
4. The Navy Overdrive Program offers free electronic access to the
books on the list.
