SUBJ: COAST GUARD-WIDE WORKSTATION RECAPITALIZATION
1. This ALCOAST serves to announce the start of a large-scale
initiative to replace over 48,000 legacy workstations throughout the
enterprise to ensure our mobile workforce is equipped with modern
tools to effectively perform their mission. The C5I Service Center
recently purchased over 20,000 workstations which will be deployed
to end users over the next few months. Here is amplifying
information.
   a. The oldest workstations will be replaced first. These models
include 16,000 Dell OptiPlex 5040 series desktops and 3,000 Dell
Latitude 5570s laptops.
   b. The new workstations are powerful, light-weight and highly
portable, enabling users to effectively work from home or on the
road. They are equipped with the latest Intel i7 processors, 32GB
of RAM, and solid-state hard drives for optimal performance.
   c. Due to supply chain shortfalls throughout industry, a longer
than usual lead-time is expected prior to new workstations being
delivered to the field. However, your C5I workforce will mobilize
to issue the new workstations to end users as quickly as possible
upon delivery.
   d. Units and users are not required to take any action.
2. COMDT (CG-6) is acutely aware of the impact legacy hardware has
on the workforce's ability to conduct daily operations and is
committed to delivering the necessary technology resources in the
most efficient manner. This action is a key part of the Technology
Revolution's "C5I Infrastructure" line of effort.
3. Targeted SITREPs will continue with relevant updates on the
deployment and schedule of hardware delivery. Be on the lookout for
amplifying information and announcements on the PIXEL Dashboard
under the C5I News tab. Users are also highly encouraged to
