SUBJ: SOLICITATION FOR BEYA SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING,
AND MATH (STEM) 2022 CONFERENCE OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT AWARD (OAA)
NOMINATIONS
1. This ALCOAST announces that Career Communications Group,
the host of the BEYA (Black Engineer of the Year Award) STEM
Conference, is accepting nominations for Outstanding Achievement
Awards to be presented at the next conference, scheduled for
11-13 February 2022. Due to COVID-19, the organizers have not yet
decided on a virtual or in-person venue and format. BEYA STEM OAA
recognizes outstanding US Coast Guard talent from all racial
backgrounds who are shaping the future of engineering, science, and
technology. These awards are also consistent with the US Coast Guard
diversity outreach strategy.
2. BEYA STEM Outstanding Achievement Awards this year are:
i. Modern-Day Technology
ii. Science Spectrum Trailblazer

Please ensure each BEYA STEM OAA nomination package is complete in
accordance with the BEYA guidance. All nomination packages must be
emailed to: nominations@ccgmag.com. Nomination packages for BEYA
STEM OAA must be submitted NLT 15 October 2021 by 1700 EST.
October 15, 2021 is an extension from the October 1, 2021 deadline
listed on the website. In addition to the nomination submission
process, nominators will provide COMDT (CG-127) all BEYA STEM OAA
nomination packages by emailing a copy to
HQS-SMB-CG127-Conference@uscg.mil for tracking purposes.
3. All award winner travel (if in-person) and registration will be
sponsored by their nominating command/unit. Conference approval and
attendance is subject to change based on Coast Guard guidance and
policy in response to COVID-19.
4. COMDT (CG-127) will seek authorization from COMDT (CG-81) for
conference attendance approval if the BEYA STEM event is in-person.
