SUBJ: AY22 AVIATION (AVI) ASSIGNMENT OFFICER SOLICITATION
A. Military Assignments and Authorized Absences, COMDTINST M1000.8A
1. PSC EPM-2 is soliciting for a high performing Senior Chief or
Master Chief Petty Officer interested in serving as an Aviation
(AVI) Assignment Officer (AO). This career broadening assignment
will provide an invaluable opportunity to represent the Aviation
Ratings at the Service level and become a Subject Matter Expert in
the assignment process. This position will foster in depth knowledge
of a wide spectrum of personnel policies and actions that directly
impact the entire enlisted workforce and cultivate exceptional
candidates for future assignment to highly visible leadership and
management positions (e.g. Silver Badge, OIC, School Chief).

Note 1: This position is open to applicants from the AST, AMT, and
AET ratings.
3. This position is designed to provide experience for senior
enlisted leadership to manage the flow of the enlisted workforce
across the Service and provide mentorship to the field regarding
career development. This duty is one of the most important,
demanding, and rewarding assignments in the Coast Guard. On any
given day, the AO will have profound influence at the individual,
unit, and organizational level. The ideal AO is career diverse with
a strong record demonstrating outstanding leadership, communication
skills, organization, and attention to detail.
4. Eligibility:
a. Tour complete in AY22, AY23, or AY24.
b. Active duty E8 or E9 paygrade.
c. Meets the requirements listed in reference (A), CH 1.E.2.
d. Time in service does not exceed 23 years prior to 01JUL22.
Waivers will not be accepted.
5. Process/timeline:
a. 03 NOV 2021: Submit an E-Resume for the AVI AO position and
all other desired billets IAW established timelines.
b. 31 MAR 2022: All Enlisted orders completed.
c. 01 JUL 2022: Expected report date.
6. This is a three year assignment.
