UPDATE: Coast Guard, partner agencies respond to gasoline spill near Port Isabel, Texas
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Coast Guard responded to a gasoline spill near Port Isabel, Texas, Saturday.
The damaged barge that released an unknown amount of gasoline into the water at the Port Isabel Offshore Terminal is no longer discharging fuel.
After deploying 50 feet of containment boom and absorbent pads, the ITV Paddy's crew pumped gasoline from the damaged vessel into an overflow tank. Following the removal of all gasoline, the ITV Paddy crew will reportedly transfer the barge to Enterprise Marine for repairs.
The Port Isabel Channel is now open to all vessel traffic.
