1. This SITREP updates the status of the AY2021 assignment process
for the Machinery Technician (MK) active duty rating. Orders have been
issued for all priority 1 and 2 tour complete MK's. Any AY2021 tour
complete members that are priority 1 or 2 and have not received orders
or have not been contacted by an MK Assignment Officer (AO) should
notify one of the points of contact (POCs) below in paragraph 7 immediately.
2. AOs are working to slate the remaining AY2021 priority 3, 4, 5 and
6 vacancies utilizing the upcoming MAY 2019/NOV 2020 SWE cutoffs. Members
that are priority 3 and below can submit revised e-Resumes to include
positions newly opened by advancements. All available positions will be
updated in Direct Access by 29 JAN 2021. All revised e-Resumes will be
due by 05 FEB 2021. AOs only see the most current e-Resume in DA.
Revised e-Resumes should include all jobs that members are applying for
rank ordered according to their preference with comments to match their
e-Resume.
3. MKs are reminded that the Coast Guard advances members to fill
vacancies. Accordingly, members and commands are reminded that as
outlined in Ref A, personnel who compete for advancement must be prepared
to be reassigned to fill any authorized position at the next higher
paygrade. Members who took the MAY 2019/NOV 2020 SWE, and are at or above
the published cut, should apply for positions at the pay grade to which
they will advance.
4. Fleet-Ups and Extensions:
   a. MK AOs will continue to maximize fleet-up opportunities where
   possible in AY2021. Fleet-ups are for members in non-command cadre
   positions.
   b. Members advancing from the SWE will be considered for extensions
   based on the needs of the service. Command endorsements are required
   for all extension requests.
5. Engineer Petty Officer (EPO): Members now above a cut that were not
due to rotate in AY21 are now available to screen for EPO IAW ref C.
The screening process and templates can be found in Ref B. Members
desiring to screen for EPO should forward their Command Endorsement
through their CO/OIC to their perspective AO by 05 FEB 2021. Members
that screen for EPO should consider themselves available for any EPO
assignment.
6. The remaining AY2021 MK3 vacancies will be filled by the MK "A"
School over the next several months.
