SUBJ: RESERVE COAST GUARD YARD POLICE DEPARTMENT PILOT PROGRAM OFF-SEASON ASSIGNMENT SOLICITATION

1. As a result of the new Reserve CGPD Pilot Program, this message announces exciting Reserve opportunities at the CG YARD. This pilot program aims to leverage skills possessed by current Reserve members with prior civilian law enforcement or PSU Shore Side Security qualifications who may be interested in assignment opportunities with this all Reserve Security Force. The Reserve CGPD will be tasked with protecting CG infrastructure, assets, and people at their parent unit or as a surge force to augment other CG units. Maritime Enforcement Specialists (MEs) who have graduated from a Peace Officer’s Standards and Training (POST) certified law enforcement officer academy or have been qualified as a PSU fire team member are encouraged to apply for this pilot program.

3. For this pilot, ME members in paygrade E-7 and above can apply for the MECS position. ME members in paygrades E-6 and below can apply for all positions above except the MECS position. As this pilot evolves, some of the ME3 above positions will be reprogrammed to higher paygrades to ensure a range experience levels. Applicants shall apply via memo format to the ME Rating Force Master Chief per the template located at https://cg.portal.uscg.mil/communities/me/SitePages/Home.aspx. The memo should include the following:
A. Reason for applying for this program.
B. Relevant certified law enforcement or PSU force protection experience.
C. Command endorsement to include acknowledgment of position gap if requesting an earlier rotation.
D. Enclosure to include graduation certificates of POST certified law enforcement academy or PSU certifications/qualifications.
4. These assignments are standard tour lengths as described in REF A, paragraph 5.I and 5.J. 
5. Memos must be submitted NLT 8 JAN 2021. Applicants found best suited may be asked to conduct phone interviews prior to assignment. Please note, not all candidates who apply or interview will be offered assignment to the CGPD Pilot.
6. Effective assignment date will be OOA 1 MAR 2021, and selectees should expect to begin drilling within 30 days.
