DOD CIVILIANS

1. Through a partnership with the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) and the other Department of Defense MWR programs, the Coast Guard Morale, Well-Being, and Recreation (MWR) is excited to announce that eligibility to authenticate online to shop on www.AmericanForcesTravel.com has been extended to all Coast Guard and Department of Defense civilians serving within the United States, including appropriated funds employees and non-appropriated funds employees. These authorized patrons will now be able to independently access a wide selection of member-exclusive rates for more than 70,000 hotels worldwide, major car rental brands, travel packages, cruise vacations and event tickets.
2. Per Ref (A), the American Forces Travel (AFT) was launched as the only official U.S. Joint Services' MWR platform offering bookings from world leaders in travel for the military and government community. All eligible patrons are highly encouraged to consider using AFT for leisure travel plans since a portion of all bookings goes back to support military quality of life programs in the form of commissions. Our members should feel confident that their purchases
are helping to fund MWR events and activities that are designed to enhance the readiness, retention, and resiliency of the Coast Guard family.
3. AFT was initially opened to all active duty and reserve military members, eligible family members, and retirees who are eligible to use MWR programs. Per Ref (B), the Coast Guard Auxiliary was authorized access to this program. This latest addition of the Coast Guard civilian workforce brings the entire Coast Guard family aboard to this great program.  The last phase this will bring aboard the civilian population of DHS.  This will authorize access to an additional 200,000 patrons.  It is anticipated that this final phase will be completed in early 2021.
