SUBJ: UPDATE TO THE 2019/2020 COAST GUARD ICS CERTIFICATION BOARD RESULTS

1. COMDT (CG-OEM) has reviewed two appeal requests submitted to COMDT (CG-5RI) in
response to the 2019/2020 Coast Guard Incident Command System (ICS) Certification
Board results detailed in REF (A). Additionally, COMDT (CG-OEM) identified four
applications that were not presented to the Board at no fault of the applicants.
On August 5, 2020, COMDT (CG-OEM) virtually reconvened six of the nine 2019/2020
ICS Certification Board members under the guidance of the Board President. The
reconvened Board considered the four applications. As a result of these reviews,
COMDT (CG-5RI) approved the recommendations to certify the following members as
indicated below:
a. ICS Type 1 Communications Unit Leader (COML1)
OSS2 Eastman, John
b. ICS Type 1 Liaison Officer (LOFR1)
CDR Martenson, Eric
c. ICS Type 2 Situation Unit Leader (SITL2)
LT Richardson, Alisa
2. Recipients should expect to receive certificates electronically via the email
address provided in their applications. The recipient's Servicing Personnel Office
or Civilian equivalent should utilize the certificate to confirm awarded competency
for official record entry.
3. The reconvened 2019/2020 ICS Certification Board membership included:

4. Members seeking to apply for Type 1 and Type 2 ICS certification should consult
their unit ICS Coordinator. The application deadline is December 1 annually. The
current ICS Certification Board Guide, Application Checklist, ICS Experience
