SUBJ: 2020 NATIONAL NAVAL OFFICERS ASSOCIATION (NNOA) LEADERSHIP, TRAINING,
AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SYMPOSIUM WEBINAR: 4 - 6 AUGUST 2020
1. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 48th National Naval Officers Association
(NNOA) Leadership, Professional Development, and Training Symposium will be
conducted via a series of leadership and development webinars in-lieu of the
in-person symposium on 4 - 6 August 2020. This year's theme is “Inclusion &
Diversity, A Catalyst for Maritime Superiority.”
2. While this is a sub-optimal solution, NNOA strives to continue its commitment
to enhance Sea Service operational readiness by supporting recruiting, professional
development, and retention in an effort to achieve a diverse officer corps that
reflects the demographics of our Nation.

4. The Coast Guard Day webinar will be hosted via Zoom for Government. Advanced
registration is required. Accessing the webinar on CG workstations is authorized.

5. The restrictions and adjustments from this pandemic has been wide-ranging across
the U.S. Government regarding travel, budgets, and participation in events. With
this in mind and after checking with key leaders in the Sea Services, NNOA has taken
the following actions:
a. NNOA leadership will look at scheduling a new STEM event in the Fall of 2020.
b. The NNOA Inclusion and Diversity (I & D) Workshop will be rescheduled for a later
date in the Fall of 2020.
c. NNOA will shift the rotation of the symposium location by scheduling the 2021
NNOA Symposium event in Portsmouth, VA vice San Diego, CA.
