SUBJ: AY21 CGIS SPECIAL AGENT SOLICITATION

1. This message solicits candidates and outlines the application
process to those enlisted members interested in Special Agent duty
during AY21.
2. Special Agent duty is extremely challenging and rewarding.
The missions of the Coast Guard Investigative Service (CGIS) include
criminal investigation, both internal (e.g. theft of GOVT property, fraud,
and violations of UCMJ) and external (e.g. alien/drug smuggling, and crimes
against CG members), as well as intelligence gathering, protective service
operations, and liaison with other federal law enforcement agencies.
3. Eligibility requirements at time of application:
a. Tour complete in AY21 or AY22.
b. All E5 above the cut for E6, E6, and E7 not above the cut for E8.
c. Meets the requirements in Ref (A), 1.E.2 and 1.E.9.
4. Process/timeline:
a. 29 MAY 2020: Standard applications are emailed to EPM-2 at
HQS-SMB-PSC-EPM-2-SpecialAssignments@uscg.mil and 'My Panel Submissions'
for CGIS are submitted in Direct Access.
b. 9-12 JUN 2020 (tentative): Special Agent Screening Panel convenes.
c. OOA 19 JUN 2020 (tentative): ALCGENL released announcing panel results.
d. OOA 31 AUG 2020 (tentative): Email from Special Assignments announcing final
selectees.
5. Standard Applications: Members and Commands should pay close attention to the
requirements listed in the standard application found at reference (B). Incomplete
or improperly formatted applications will be returned. Deadline extensions will not
be granted to correct errors.
