Coast Guard medevacs passenger from vessel taking on water near Venice, Louisiana
NEW ORLEANS — The Coast Guard medevaced one passenger aboard a fishing vessel near Venice, Louisiana, Saturday.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report at approximately 3:30 a.m. of a fishing vessel taking on water after striking a wellhead, with one of the three passengers sustaining a head injury.
A Coast Guard Station Venice shallow water boat crew and a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter aircrew responded. The boat crew arrived on scene and transported the injured passenger to local EMS at Station Venice.
The passenger was transported to Ochsner Medical Center West Bank in stable condition.
