SUBJ:  2019 STUDENT ART CONTEST WINNERS
1. I am pleased to announce the winners and congratulate students who participated
in the 2019 Student Art Contest co-sponsored by the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), the
North American Marine Environment Protection Association (NAMEPA), and the Inter-
American Committee on Ports of the Organization of American States (CIP-OAS).
Annually, these organizations invite students in grades K-12 throughout the
Americas to create posters on a theme related to the marine environment. This
year's theme was “All Aboard! There's a Place for You in the Maritime Community."
2. Congratulations to the following winning artists:

3. The contest winners' works of art is on the NAMEPA website,
(https://namepa.net/education/art-contest/) and will be featured on the USCG CRD
website. The two grand prize winners will receive a certificate, a bilingual
(English and Spanish) calendar featuring the art of all 12 winners, a $100 cash
prize and a special Coast Guard- themed package. Finalists will receive a
certificate and the bilingual calendar.
4. Coast Guard Partnership in Education (PIE) Coordinators encouraged and supported
the participation of students at schools in communities in which they live and
serve. I commend these Coordinators for their support of PIE initiatives that
encourage academic achievement and awareness.
