Coast Guard to hold public hearing for Genesis River, Voyager collision investigation in Galveston, Texas

HOUSTON — The Coast Guard is scheduled to hold a public hearing to consider evidence related to the tanker ship Genesis River and towing vessel Voyager formal marine casualty investigation.

WHEN: 9 a.m. Monday-Friday, Sept. 16-20, 2019 

WHERE: Galveston County Courthouse, 722 Moody St, Galveston, TX 77550

The hearing will focus on the collision between the Genesis River and the barge Kirby 30015T, towed by the Voyager, while transiting the Houston Ship Channel near Bayport, Texas.

The media and the public are invited to attend.

The Coast Guard has established an email address, accidentinfo@uscg.mil, for the public and any interested parties to provide information, ask questions and make comments related to the ongoing investigation during the hearing. The email will be checked regularly, all correspondence will be acknowledged and all information sent to the address will be reviewed and responded to.

A Coast Guard spokesperson is scheduled to be available for interviews Monday, Sept. 16, 2019, from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Media interested should R.S.V.P. with Public Affairs Detachment Texas at 281-464-4810 by Sunday, Sept. 15, 2019.
