KODIAK, Alaska -- A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak aircrew, forward deployed to Cordova, medically evacuated a cruise ship passenger near Cordova, Saturday.
The MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew safely hoisted and transported the patient to commercial services for further high medical care.
District 17 Command Center personnel received a medevac request from the cruise ship Noordam for a passenger who was reportedly experiencing chest pains.
The 72-year-old male passenger and the ship’s nurse were hoisted and taken to Cordova for a wing-to-wing transfer with a Guardian Flight team.
The cruise ship was approximately 125 nautical miles southeast of Cordova at the time of the request.
