KODIAK, Alaska -- A Coast Guard Air Station Sitka aircrew medically evacuated a cruise ship passenger near Glacier Bay, Alaska, Saturday.
The MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew safely hoisted and transported the passenger to awaiting Emergency Medical Service personnel in Sitka.
At 2:30 p.m., Sector Juneau Command Center personnel received a call via VHF Channel 16 from the cruise ship Crystal Symphony requesting a medevac of a 52-year-old male reportedly suffering heart attack symptoms.
After the aircrew transported the patient to Sitka, the EMS crew took him to Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital.
The patient was evaluated and then flown to Seattle’s Swedish Medical Center by a Guardian Flight crew.
