Coast Guard ends search for person in the water off Kemah Boardwalk
Correction: This version corrects the good Samaritan's age to 57.
HOUSTON — The Coast Guard has ended the search Thursday for the good Samaritan who was last seen attempting to assist a kayaker off the Kemah Boardwalk in Kemah, Texas.
At 10:37 a.m., Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received notification that a body had been recovered matching the description of the missing person.
The search began Wednesday when Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders were notified of a 57-year-old male Kemah Boardwalk employee who went missing after attempting to help a kayaker in distress. People on scene lost sight of the employee and notified authorities. The kayaker was assisted to shore by another good Samaritan.
