All CGSIC,

The Air Force Second Space Operations Squadron (2 SOPS) has issued a LAUNCH NANU for SVN-74, the first of the new generation of GPS-III satellites.  To clear up any confusion this may have caused, SVN-74 was launched on 23 December of 2018, JDAY 357 2018, but there is no provision in a strictly formatted LAUNCH NANU to list a previous year.  The first of its kind, this satellite was launched outside of the GPS Ground Control Segment and has been under the operational control of the vehicle developer.  Having successfully undergone rigorous operational testing on orbit, SVN-74/PRN-04 is now being passed to 2 SOPS to begin Air Force testing for insertion into the active GPS constellation.  A LAUNCH NANU is required to initialize a GPS satellite's service in the Air Force.
