Imagery Available: Coast Guard, local agencies searching for missing spearfisher off Anini Beach, Kauai

HONOLULU — The Coast Guard and local agencies are searching for a 28-year-old man, Theobhlaus Erakdrik, off Anini Beach, Kauai, Sunday.
“We are currently searching for a 28-year-old male who is reported to be last seen wearing a black Nike top, brown shorts and black mask and fins,” said Petty Officer 3rd Class Jonathan Gebhart, watchstander, Sector Honolulu. “He was reported using a yellow, three-prong spear gun and had a dive light on him. Anyone with information that may help in locating him is encouraged to notify the command center at 808-842-2600.”
At 6:45 a.m., Station Kauai watchstanders received a call from Kauai Fire Department notifying them of the report received from Erakdrik’s brother. He reported a total of nine people going into the water around 8 p.m., Saturday, and everyone meeting back on the beach at 11:30 p.m. except Erakdrik.
Engaged in the Search are:
- An MH-65 Dolphin aircrew and an HC-130 Hercules airplane crew from Air Station Barbers Point
- A 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew from Station Kauai
- U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Kittiwake (WPB 87316) Crew
- Navy Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron 37 MH-60R Seahawk helicopter aircrew from Marine Corps Base Hawaii

-Kauai Fire Department
Weather on scene is winds of 15 mph and seas up to 5 feet.
