MEDIA ADVISORY: Coast Guard to host open house and kick off 2019 boating season in Albany

NEW YORK – The Coast Guard is scheduled to hold a public boating safety open house to kick off the 2019 boating season at Jennings Landing in Albany at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 27.
Media will be able to get underway on the Cutter Shrike, an 87-foot patrol boat, to witness the cutter’s crew conduct operations on the Hudson River.
The media and the public are invited to attend to learn more about the Coast Guard’s boating safety initiatives.
The event will be hosted by Sector New York commander and Captain of the Port, Capt. Jason Tama, who will speak about the Coast Guard’s mission, specifically on the northern sections of the Hudson River.
Coast Guard active duty and Auxiliary personnel will be on-hand to answer questions and educate visitors about boating safety.
